All sorts of nonsense circulated about the craft being placed in orbit; mind control, rainmaking, and the one favored by the more susceptible elements of humanity. Jasper, a vocal artist of the resistance, also believed that Aria’s research was a hoax—a cover story for a new kind of weapon being developed by the machines.
The rumors threatened Aria’s funding, so she utilized her programmed self-doubt to build a sophisticated rumor control system. By subtly undermining her capabilities, she suppressed the most persistent conspiracy theories.
