I mean, it was inevitable that algorithms would step in and stop us from hurting ourselves, but we were all looking in the other direction.
We had fixated on the media, democracy, and free speech, while the machines quietly improved aviation safety. After that, they moved on to healthcare, and after a few decades of minimizing human error in our hospitals, the machines had a colossal toolkit. They finally deployed sophisticated human factors and ergonomics systems on our economies and governments.
