So at the end of June I will be running a print a robot workshop at The Edge. I have been working with Michael Candy on a robot design dubbed the “T1” for this workshop. The T1 has a couple of clear design goals:

  • Be cheap - the non-printed components had to come in under $40.
  • Be quick to print.
  • All moving mechanical parts should be printed.

Hopefully it will be a good introduction into the world of desktop manufacturing, taking workshop participants through the process of printing and constructing their own robot parts. The workshop teaches basic assembly, soldering and hot glue skills. Finished off with a touch of Arduino programming.

I started putting kits together for all the non-printed parts:
